Publishing Scope and Requirement for Manuscript
Publishing Scope
Chinese Journal of Stroke is a senior academic medical journal issued openly across the country, reporting the latest domestic and international achievements in basic, clinical, and epidemiological research related to cerebrovascular diseases, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and clinical guidelines. It aims to strengthen the exchange of medical information, elevate the academic level of medicine, and serve a broad community of medical, pharmaceutical, scientific, and health workers.
The columns include Commentary (invited), Special Forum (invited), Original Contributions, Guidelines and Consensus, Case Discussion, Reviews, International Dispatches, Clinical Viewpoint, Conference Reports, etc.
The journal does not accept academic articles primarily generated through artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-related tools. The use of images and other multimedia content generated by AI or AI-related tools is strictly prohibited, and AI or AI-related tools shall not be listed as authors or co-authors in submitted articles and references.
If AI-related technology has been used to assist in research and article writing (such as assisting in information integration, data statistics/analysis, language polishing, or assisting in the drawing of diagrams or schematics), authors should provide a detailed declaration of the details of AI use. This includes the user, the name of the AI technology or tool (indicating the version number), the time of use, the prompts and commands during the content generation or assisted modification process, and specific information about what parts of the research were involved by AI. At the same time, authors must ensure and declare that the submitted article does not contain errors, biases, or plagiarism due to AI assistance, which would violate academic ethics.
Requirement for Manuscript
1 Submission
1.1 Time Requirements
After receiving the manuscript, the editorial department will notify the author whether it is accepted within three months. If no notification regarding the manuscript has been received after three months, the author may log into the system or call the editorial department for inquiries. Manuscripts that are intended for publication may require multiple revisions. The longest period for revisions after each notification of comments is one month and failure to comply with the deadline will be considered an automatic withdrawal.
1.2 Funding Projects
If the research project involved in the submission has obtained national or provincial-level funding, or is a key project, it should be clearly stated on the title page and accompanied by a photocopy of the funding certificate. The name and number of the funding project should be filled in according to the official name stipulated by the relevant national departments. Multiple funding projects should be listed in order, separated by semicolon.
1.3 Author Responsibility
All submissions are the responsibility of the author. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Copyright Law, this journal may make textual modifications and abridgements to the manuscript. Any modifications that involve the original intent will be consulted with the author. If author does not agree to the deletion and modification, please declare in advance. If the author wants to submit the manuscript to another journal, please contact our journal first and do not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals at the same time. Manuscripts that have been published in non-publicly distributed publications, or have been exchanged at academic conferences, or have been published in other languages do not constitute dual submissions, but the author must indicate this at the time of submission. Once duplicate submission is confirmed, the manuscript will be withdrawn. If the article has been published in our journal, we will publish a statement that the article is a duplicate publication and notify the author's institution and other scientific journals in the field. Our journal will refuse to accept all manuscripts written by the author as the first author for two years.
1.4 Copyright
Once a manuscript is accepted, the author must sign an exclusive Copyright Transfer Agreement. The exclusive rights to the manuscript will belong to the editorial department of the Chinese Journal of Stroke. The editorial department of the Chinese Journal of Stroke has the right to publish the article in electronic journals, CDs, online distribution, and other formats.
The Chinese Journal of Stroke is an open-access journal, and once published, all articles will be permanently available for readers to read and download for free on our website. For details about our open-access policy and requirements, please see the “Open Access” on the official website.
1.5 Author Contributions
When submitting, a completed author contribution form signed by all authors is required. This document can be downloaded within the author submission system.
1.6 Highlight
Articles in the original research and review categories should summarize the innovation, new findings, significance, or the meaning of this article (the significance of translational medicine) in concise language (within 40 characters).
1.7 Online Submission
The journal implements online submission. Authors should log in to the Chinese Journal of Stroke website (http://www.chinastroke.org.cn) and submit their manuscripts after registration.
2 Manuscript Writing
2.1 Title
The title of manuscripts shall be concise and conspicuous, which can accurately reflect the theme of the article. The Chinese title should be within 20 characters, preferably without subtitle. Generally, punctuation and acronyms shall not be used. English title shall be consistent with the Chinese title in meaning.
2.2 Authorship
Authors should be individuals who have participated in the selection and design of the study or in the analysis and interpretation of the data, drafted or revised the manuscript's key theoretical or other substantial content, verified or modified the editorial office's suggestions, defended the work in the academic community, and ultimately agreed to its publication. All three criteria must be met simultaneously. If there are foreign authors among them, a letter signed by the foreign author consenting to publication in this journal should be attached. The author's signature is arranged in order of contribution under the title. The order of authors shall be collectively determined before submission and shall not be changed thereafter. If necessary, relevant proof must be provided, and all authors must sign. The Chinese and English names of author’s institute (including Department), city, postal code, and the corresponding author’s E-mail should be provided. All authors' names and their work institutions should be listed, with the English names written in Pinyin, with the surname in all capital letters and the given name's initial letter capitalized, e.g., HAN Cong, LI Zhifang.
There should generally be only one first author and one corresponding author, determined by the submitter. If co-first authors or co-corresponding authors are indeed necessary, they should be determined at the time of submission and their specific contributions should be stated in the "Authors Contribution Form". Co-authors should not, in principle, be members of the same department. If collaborative group members need to be indicated, they should be listed with their affiliations and names before the references at the end of the manuscript.
2.3 Abstract and Keywords
Abstracts are required for Original Contributions, Reviews and Case Discussion. Please refer to the Instruction for Original Research Article and the Instruction for Review. All articles should list 3~5 keywords, which should be selected from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) by the US National Medical Library. For the Chinese translation, please refer to the Annotation Sequence of Medical Subject Words compiled by the Institute of Information, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. For technical terms that have not yet passed approval, authors could take reference to the latest version of MeSH, Annotation Sequence of Medical Subject Words and Subject Words List of Traditional Chinese Medicine. For terms without commonly-used translation, the original words shall be included in brackets when they appear for the first time in the manuscript. The names of Chinese and Western medicines shall be subject to the latest version of Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China and General Names of Chinese Medicines (both issued by Chinese Pharmacopoeia Committee). The international non-proprietary drug names should be adopted for the English name of drugs. If it is necessary to use a trade name, its general name shall be stated first. TCM Terms shall be implemented in accordance with Clinic Terminology of Traditional Chinese Medical in Diagnosis, Syndromes and Therapeutics (GB/T16751.1-1997). Meridian acupuncture and moxibustion terms shall be implemented in accordance with Meridian Points (GB/T16751.2-1997) and Auricular Point Names and Locations (GB/T16751.3-1997). Traditional Chinese medicine should be named correctly. Those not included in the Pharmacopoeia should be annotated in Latin. The full Chinese names shall be written for the foreign acronyms when they appear for the first time, for example: 出血转化 (hemorrhagic transformation, HT).
2.4.3 Figures and Tables
Figures and tables shall be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals according to the order in which they appear in the text. Each figure and table shall be marked with a figure (table) title, both in Chinese and English. Descriptive text shall be placed in the notes below the figure (table). The acronyms used in figures shall be indicated in notes. Three-line-style and Arabic numerals should be adopted in tables. The effective digits of the same indicator shall be consistent, which are generally determined by 1/3 of the standard deviation. The picture should be placed in the corresponding position in the text and the position of the focus should be marked in the picture (arrows in different shapes and colors). The original electronic version file (no marked symbols) should be provided at the same time, in JPG, TIF or GIF format, with good clarity and contrast (a single image file above 1M). If the figure is a personal portrait, a written consent must be obtained, or the part of the portrait that can identify who it is should be covered properly. Body Photos shall have scale marking. For pathological photos, the staining method and magnification must be indicated. If the figures are quoted from other publications, the source should be indicated.
2.4.4 Unit of Measurement
The unit of measurement shall comply with the provisions and writing rules concerning quantities, units and symbols in Quantities and Units (GB3102.1~10-1993) and the Application of Legal Units of Measurement in Medicine compiled by the Chinese Medical Association. Unit names and unit symbols cannot be mixed. When there are more than one slashes indicating division in combined unit symbols, it should be expressed in form of negative exponents. For example, ng/kg/min should be expressed in form of ng·kg-1·min-1. The slash and negative exponent in combination units cannot be mixed. For example, ng/kg·min-1 should not be used.
2.4.5 Numbers
Numbers shall comply with the Provisions on the Use of Numbers in Publications (GB/T15835-2011). The Gregorian calendar century, year, month, day, time, count and measurement shall be expressed in Arabic numerals. The journal adopts a sequential coding format for references, marked with Arabic numerals according to the order in which they appear in the text, and arranged after the text. Chinese references should be accompanied by English translations corresponding to Chinese one by one. References in the article should be quoted from the original text. Indirect quotation and quotation of abstracts should be avoided. The references in recent 5 years should account for 50%. Internal materials, unpublished materials (excluding accepted articles to be published) and personal communications should not be cited as references, if necessary, they can be noted in the corresponding place of the text.
