Abstract: Post-stroke depression (PSD) is the most common neuropsychiatric complication after stroke, which was believed to be responsible for the increased morbidity and mortality associated with stroke. Reported evidences demonstrated that PSD was correlated with the lesion location as well as the severity of stroke, and was due to the multiple biopsychosocial factors. Controlled clinical trails have shown that antidepressants are efficient in the prevention and treatment of PSD. In this review we will provide an overview of several important issues on this field.
