Objective To investigate the effects of stage-based and responsibility-focused nursingintervention on motor functional restoration in stroke patients. Methods Total of 48 stroke patients were randomly divided into two groups: nursinginterventional group and control group. Two groups were given general nursing. Patients innursing interventional group were given feasible interventional measure else.Motor function(Fugl-Meyer motor performance score) and activities of daily living(Barthel's index) wereassessed at baseline and at 4 weeks and 6 months after treatment respectively. Results The score in motor function was much higher in nursing interventional group than that incontrol group(P =0.03).Conclusion Stage-based and responsibility-focused nursing intervention can improve thefunctional restoration in stroke patients.

Objective The family members of severe stroke patient had been investigated the needs of socialsupport. Methods The relatives of 63 severe stroke patients had been invited to fill out questionnaires. The survey form includes what they need as for the social supportiveness, their concerns and theirexpectation of social support. The data were analyzed by statistics. Results More than 90% of the respondents thought that their rule of life was seriously affected.More than half of them thought their health were affected by the patients. The proportion of thefamilies had intense requirements of visit was 74%. 98% of the families wanted to know thechanges in the patient's condition in time 67% of them concerned whether the patients was beingkept alive 44% of them expected to improve the social security and to relieve financial burden. Conclusion Medical information support is an important social support for severe stroke patients'families; the mental experience of the families should be concerned.

Objective To investigate the convenience of dressing patients with graduated compressionstockings (GCS) by using the method of reversing socks to the heels and to compare with thetraditional method. Methods Fifty hospitalized stroke patients were divided into observation group and controlgroup randomly; The traditional method of folding socks repeatedly back to the heesl was used incontrol group, and the improved method was used in observation group. Time consumption wascompared between the two groups. Results The mean time consumption was 325±76 seconds in observation group, and it wassignificantly shorter than that in control group (579±157 seconds, P <0.01).Conclusion With improved method of wearing GCS could save labor and improve efficiency.

Objective To explore the safety nursing on post-stroke epilepsy to reduce the complications. Methods Forty five patients with post-stroke epilepsy were given specific care. We observed theeffect of clinical nursing and complications. Results No accidents were found except 2 cases of tongue bite and one case of deep veinthrombosis during hospitalization. Conclusion To strengthen the clinical nursing on seizures and prevention of complications wouldbring satisfactory effect on post-stroke epilepsy.

Objective To probe into the relationship between cerebral vascular hemodynamicsindexes (CVHI)accumulative score and risk factors of stroke in urban population aged above 50 in Changsha. Methods Residents aged above 50 in changsha urban were selected randomly to spot-check in2008. In the baseline survey, the risk factors of stroke, such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiacdisease, hyperlipemia, smoking and drinking were collected and CVHI were examined. CVHIaccumulative score was synthesized according to contribution of single index. According towhether with any risk factors, the subjects were divided into the control group, the single riskfactor group and the multiple risk factors group. We study the relationship between the stroke riskfactors and CVHI accumulative score. Results (1)Compared with the control group, scores of CVHI score in the hypertension andthe multiple risk factors group were significantly decreased(P <0.01). And the rates of high-riskgroups whose score bellowed 75 points and the very high-risk groups whose score bellowed 50points in the hypertension group and the multiple risk factors group were more higher than thosein the control group, the differences were significant(P <0.01). (2)With the increase of risk factors, the scores of CVHI were decreased and the rates of high-risk groups and the very high-riskgroups were increased respectively(P <0.01).Conclusion CVHI score would significantly reduce with hypertension and multiple risk factors.

Objective To observe the expression differences of Heat-shock Protein 70 (HSP70) in braintissues in rat model of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH).Methods Eighteen matured-male SD rats were divided equally into normal, control and modelgroup. The rat model of IVH, prepared by blood injecting into lateral cerebral ventricle directly,The tissue slice of HSP70 was made by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The HSP70 positivecells were calculated by microscope directly. Water content of brain tissue was calculated by drywetweight method. Results The HSP70 positive cells and water content of brain tissue in model group were morethan that of the normal or control groups(26.4 vs 2.4, 3.2; 55.33 vs 45.26, 48.38; P <0.05 andP <0.01, respectively), and the expression of HSP70 appeared in cortex and subcortex areas mainly, also appeared in periventricular tissues. Conclusion IVH of rat model can induce a high expression of HSP70 in cortex and subcortex.

Objective To describe the clinical, neuroimaging and neuropathological findings in patients withlinear scleroderma “en coup de saber” (LScs) and to explore the role of cerebrovascular changesin the pathogenesis of neurological abnormalities. Methods Two cases of LScs with intracranial involvement were evaluated by clinical, neuroimaging and neuropathology. Results One 30-year-old woman developed Oculomotor nerve palsy, seizure and Hemiparesis.Radiographic studies demonstrated ipsilateral skull atrophy, cerebral atrophy, white matterlesions directly subjacent to the area of scleroderma. Another 27-year-old woman had progressivesevere headache, neuroimaging revealed cyst-like lesion with white matter demyelination inright tempo-occipital lobe and basal ganglia. Both of them had linear scleroderma “en coup desaber” involving the right side of the scalp. Brain biopsy showed obvious thickening and fibrinoiddegeneration of vessel walls, perivascular lymphocytic infiltration, patchy ischemic infarct andwhite matter demyelination. Conclusion The neurological abnormalities associated with linear scleroderma “en coup de saber”were caused by hemodynamic disturbances from intracranial vasculitis.

Objective To explore the effect of care model of Stroke Unit on patients with post-strokedepression.Methods Fifty-two patients with post-stroke depression were randomly divided into Stroke Unitcare group and control group. The patients in the former group were intervened with Stroke Unitcare after psychological analyses, the control group only accepted ordinary care. Results After individualized psychological intervention, the scores of Hamilton Rating Scalefor Depression(HRSD) and the Modified Rankin Scales mRS were decreased, while the Barthelindex was significantly increased(P <0.01).Conclusion Care model of Stroke Unit is an effective method of decreasing depression in poststrokepatients. It will improve the rehabilitative ability.

Maintaining cerebral perfusion is one of the most important principles of centralnervous system surgery. Major vessels' compromise or occlusion especially during neurovascularprocedures may occur postoperative neurological deficits. It is important for neurosurgeonsto develop real-time methods for intraoperative f low evaluation. Indocyanine greenvideoangiography is a simple, quick and real-time method. As a new technique for intraoperativeassessment of vascular flow, it is very promising. The article reviews the application progress ofnear-infrared indocyanine green videoangiography in cerebral vascular diseases.

Over time, there is a controversy over the control of blood pressure at a high levelor low level in acute stroke patients. This article begins with the changes in cerebral blood flowand blood pressure in acute stroke, takes in the newly-published guidelines of hypertensionand stroke and combines with recent evidence-based medicine to make a review over earlyantihypertensive treatment in acute stroke.
